The Great Western Railway Works were a massive construction which changed Swindon forever, and helped transform Victorian England. At the time of it's construction, the Engine shed had the largest continuous roof in the world.
The works have now been converted into the Great Western Designer Shopping Village, which I understand is very exciting if you're into shopping. This cache is to incentivise those who would rather be caching, or simply as a short caching diversion. To be fair, however, the shopping village has retained some interesting orginial history including original machinery and plates describing the first use of the sheds.
Adjacent to the village is the highly acclaimed Museum of Steam, for which we can vouch from personal experience. We visited with a Steam enthusiast and three small children; everyone really enjoyed it.
In order to claim this virtual cache, find the beautiful original Steam Engine “Ditcheat Manor", answer this question and message the answer to me:
To the left of the front of the engine, there is a small red plaque on the wall (this sign is partially obscured by another sign so look carefully). What is the first line of the red plaque?
Under no circumstances should you post the answers in your log or post photographs of the answer. You must physically visit this cache in order to log it, please do not abuse this requirement (I regret that I will have to delete logs that do not meet these requirements).
For parking just follow the signs to the Great Western Designer Village (parking charge applies). This cache is suitable for all (wheelchairs, prams, buggies, children). Adjacent to the cache there is a large cafe area and toilets.
