Picture and a Postcard Traditional Geocache
DewPoint52: I kind of hate to archive a cache from the early years of caching that might help people with the Jasmer Challenge, but the container is gone and the area is changed so I decided I need to. It's sad to see this one go but at least more than 500 cachers got to enjoy it while it was there.

I may have to increase the difficulty level, the woods are filled with colorful crazed (wooden) animals. Bring the kids, bring the camera! The new exhibits are great!
This one is pretty easy, just stay on all of the trails (some are paved) until you get to the main object of the trail or about 160 feet. Total travel under 1/2 mile there and back. Open during daylight hours.
Picture and a Postcard refers to two different things. The postcard is about the cache. The cache is in the shape of a mailbox and is full of postcards. Take one/leave one (used or otherwise). It is stocked with about 30 now. Also in the box is a logbook and pen. The box is large enough for TB and other reasonably sized stuff, but lets try to keep to the theme. This one is very kid friendly and could turn out to be an interesting geography lesson. The buildings on this site are also very educational. The picture part of this cache will be obvious once you get there. Have fun and remember, they close the trails after dark.

Please be sure to place the log book in the bag and inside the inner container and seal both completely. The outer container is not waterproof.
This is easy to see from 10' or more if you approach from the right direction, so you don't need to do a lot of digging around. Our GPSr originally had us too far down the hill, but after a few minutes, it settled down to point very close to the cache. Young children especially should enjoy the container. There are a few thorns nearby, though, and in warmer months you'll probably encounter some poison ivy on the way to the cache, so be careful.
6/1/2008 update: After an encounter with muggles, the cache no longer contains postcards, but feel free to leave some as trade items to keep the original theme going.
After finding the cache, you might enjoy a visit to the nearby cloud chamber. On a hot day, it will be noticeably cooler inside and if you close the door and wait for your eyes to adjust to the dark, the light coming through the small opening in the roof makes an interesting display on the floor and the walls. (Before your eyes adjust, it is VERY dark inside, so anyone afraid of the dark probably won't enjoy it.)
