Geocache Description:

Cryers Hill overlooking Hughenden Valley is the setting for this 2 part cache. Set amoungst some of Buckinghamshires most mysterious villages this cache is perfect for the dark & should only be done in the daylight by those who don't have time to hang around, this way the true feelings of it can be enjoyed by all.

South Bucks, most notably West Wycombe and Hughenden are renound for strange goings on, this cache will take you to the locations of 2 of these 'events'.

Task 1: Visit Hughenden Cremetorium... But first take a read of a local news report that appeared in the South Bucks Star, September 26th, 1986: 'A GHOSTLY figure dressed in green startled two motorists as they drove past a crematorium just before midnight. The apparition suddenly loomed up at the side of the road sending shivers down the spine of driver Mark Nursey and his girlfriend Allyson Buleptt, who was in the car behind.
Mark, of Hepplewhite Close, High Wycombe, said: "The most uncanny thing was the way it stood. It seemed to be wearing what I can only describe as a big green jumper. I couldn't make out the head or hands. It seemed to be stooping but was about 5ft 11ins tall and well built."
The ghost was seen outside Hughenden Crematorium, Four Ashes Lane, Cryers Hill'

Further Claims have since been made reguarding Huge green figures with no legs or hands and a grey mist instead of a face, running into the road & waving at cars to stop then vanishing. Most sightings have taken place around 12am. It is here that you will be required to gather information to fill in blanks in your final coordinates.

Take the obvious seat and face directly forward. You are now surrounded by a ring of graves. Working clockwise with the first stone to the right of the path counting as the first, you must note the third digit from the 5th, 13th & 19th Stones. These are A,B & C.

You should now have your final resting place: N51° 39.(B-4)(B-4)(A-2) W000° 44.(C+4)(B+1)(A-6)

The cache is hidden deep inside a local wood and easily accesible from atleast 3 footpaths. My access point was down a small singletrack lane where I felt close to God. Now the placement you may be thinking to yourself is random, but Hughenden has another secret...

Taken from Mysterymag.com: 'Mrs Day, now 65, of Friars Garden, Hughenden Valley, remembers the day well. She said: "It was in the middle of the day during a thunderstorm. I remember thinking: 'I wish I hadn't seen this' because I thought no one would believe me. "It was a mountain lion. It was not a domestic cat. It was a distinct sighting. It was frightening." There was another cluster of big cat sightings in 1994. In March a mystery beast, this time likened to a female lion, was reportedly stalking the woods in Hughenden Valley. Witnesses compared it to a large wildcat, dog walkers reported petrified pets, while others found footprints or heard strange noises. Also in March two people startled a creature while walking their dogs behind Hughenden Valley playing fields. It was described as having a "cat-like face and cat-like tail" and left "big cat-type prints in the snow". In April and May, 1997 there were two accounts of a panther on the loose in South Bucks'

Enjoy your time in the area. Just remember to be carefull when asking locals for directions and to tread carefully when walking through woodland. You wouldn't wan't to disturb anything out of the ordinary. Lots more information about Buckinghamshires unknown can be found at The Strange Buckinghamshire Website.
