Geocache Description:

The cache is located close to the Cape Spear Lighthouse and is the most eastern active cache in North America, as far as we know. There is no obvious path to the cache and it is relatively difficult terrain so be careful with small children. The cache is a medium sized rubber maid container and is clearly marked.

Hopefully this cache will encourage a few more people to visit the Cape Spear park, a great spot for a picnic or a short hike and the eastern-most point in North America. We hid the cache in late March so it may be a bit more overgrown in the summer.

The cache is not on the main trail so use care accessing it, especially if you approach from the west (the direct route from the parking lot). Since this is close to a high traffic area, please be discreet when finding the cache and be careful to hide it well once you are done. You will be in view of people on the main trail from the gun battery to the lighthouse when you are looking for this cache.

Take time to enjoy the great view of the North Atlantic from the cache. We were there on a sunny but cool day and it was a fantastic spot!

The cache initially contained:
- a log book, pencil and geocache sheet, in a ziplock bag
- a small kids board book, a picture frame, an ink stamper, a lego person, a small figure/doll, a pack of crayons, a spring clip and a few other small kids toys.

On posting this, we thought it would be fun to make the theme of this cache 'Things East' so if you plan on dropping something off, keep that in mind.
