This cache is located in the shadow of the once thriving and now defunct Bethlehem Steel works. Sardude and I stumbled on this location while driving around the area trying to see as much of the plant as possible. We were in awe of the massive blast furnaces and the sheer size of the works. It must have been incredible sight to see when this place was in full operation.
This quote is on the plaque at the entrance of the park:
“Let this hallowed ground last forever as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who worked in our city’s steel industry.”
As proof of your visit to this well conceived and apt memorial to those who worked and died making America the industrial giant it is today . . . find the 23rd tile on Filmore Street as you walk away from the steel worker. Please tell us who is remembered and what his job was.
Please take the time to look around. I think anyone who visits this place will be as impressed as I was.
