This is the Western extremity of the Trans Pennine Trail which was established in 2001 after 11 years work and provides a 350 mile multi-user trail across the North of England. Full details are at www.transpenninetrail.org.uk and three maps are available covering the whole route.

Southport is an attractive seaside resort with such events as annual airshow on the sands by this cache in September and the world famed Southport Flower Show in the nearby Victoria Park in August.
