Geocache Description:

An Earth Day Cleanup in the Lowell State Game Area

Let's get together and make a difference!
Saturday, April 19, 2003 - Rain or Shine

Schedule of events
11:30-Noon - Meet in Fallasburg Park
Noon-3:00 - Trash Out
Cookout to follow in Fallasburg

Be a part of the Geocaching.com nationwide Earth Day Cache-In, Trash-Out park cleanup project.  MiGO is participating in the Michigan DNR's Adopt-A-Forest program. The DNR is a primary sponsor for this clean up.  Check out their website it's excellent.

Location: Lowell State Game Area located in Kent and Ionia counties about 20 miles east of Grand Rapids.  RetroJohn, Banjo Jim & TeamTSA nominated the Lowell State Game Area as a good candidate for a trash out event and the DNR agreed.  They will be providing dumpsters and sponsoring the cleanup.  It is mostly small trash located in and near several parking areas.

Meet at: The posted coordinates, they are at Fallasburg Park in the open shelter building. If you arrive late head east on Covered Bridge Rd about 1/4 mile past the bridge and turn right on Montcalm Ave, you will find us about a mile south. N42 57.387  W85 18.686

Time:  We will meet up between 11:30 and noon and then branch out and spend about 3 hours picking up followed by a cookout.  There will be plenty of time before and after the event to hit some of the many caches in the area

Food: After the trash-out we will have a cookout at the Fallasburg Park open shelter on the covered bridge end of the park.  The menu includes hotdogs, chili-dogs, chips and hot coffee/chocolate.  If you want to bring something potluck to pass around that would be great but it isn't required.

What to Bring: Wear a long sleeve shirt and long pants and bring a pair of gloves.  We will probably be a little early for mosquitoes so hopefully bugs aren't a problem.  Thanks to those who have volunteered the use of pickup trucks.  The dumpster will be located in a central spot and the pickups will cruise the parking areas to pick up the trash bags.

Rain: Because Sunday is Easter this will be a rain or shine event!  Bring a poncho if the weather looks bad and we will try to have some extra ones on hand.

Misc: If you have an FRS radio bring it and tune us in on FRS-2. Pet friendly as long as you have a leash and clean up.  CITO shirts will be available at the event, we have the preorders and some extras.

Post a note below and tell us if you can help and how many helpers you can bring.  We'll have more details as they develop. For further information, watch this page and the MiGO website for more details.
