The story of the ill-fated Donner Party's trials and tribulations
while crossing the Sierra Nevada mountains in the winter of 1846
gives one new respect for the strength shown by the pioneers to
expanded this country westward. This cache, takes you down a 200
yard path to a large rock that served as the north wall and
fireplace of the Murphy cabin. The rock contains a large bronze
plaque, erected in 1919, showing the names of those who perished
and those who survived. While you're here visit the museum and take
the nature walk through this historic spot.
To log this cache, you must email me the name of the foundry
that made the plaque in 1919.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY PHOTOS THAT MIGHT GIVE AWAY THE "ANSWER"
