The object of this cache is to find an old but STILL IN USE post box with the letters V R on the front.
This is open to any cacher worldwide as there may still be some in commonwealth and ex commonwealth countries that are still in use
Please take photo of the V R Box and include your Gps in the photo and give the co-ordinates of where you saw it.
The one which I found is my local post box and was placed in the 1880's according to my postman who empties it. It was vandalised recently as you can see from the photo, someone has tried to break off the collection time info board.
AS OF 19TH.FEB.2004, NEW RULES AS FOLLOWS ARE NOW IN PLACE FOR THIS CACHE:
NO SAME MAIL BOX CAN BE LOGGED MORE THAN ONCE.
CACHERS CAN STILL LOG AS MANY NEW BOXES AS THEY CAN FIND.
IN THE EVENT OF THE SAME MAIL BOX BEING LOGGED MORE THAN ONCE, THE FIRST LOG GETS THE FIND AND ANY LOGGED WITH THE SAME CO-ORDINATES AFTER 19TH. FEB 2004 WILL BE DELETED.
I HAVE MADE AN ATTEMPT AT BUILDING A MAIL BOX DATA BASE OF LOGGED BOXES AND THIS DATA BASE CAN BE FOUND AT THE TOP LEFT OF THIS PAGE (USERS WEB PAGE).
PLEASE CHECK OUT YOUR MAIL BOX FINDS ON THE DATABASE & ON THE LAST WEEKS LOGS TO SEE IF THEY HAVE BEEN LOGGED BEFORE. I HOPE TO UPDATE THE DATABASE A FEW TIMES PER WEEK.
ALL DOUBLE AND TREBLE LOGGED FINDS ARE ACCEPTED BEFORE 19TH. FEB 2004 AS THERE WAS, AT THAT TIME, NO RULES ON HOW MANY LOGS COULD BE PLACED ON THE SAME BOX.
