We recently revisited the cache January 2014. Beautiful location if you like terrain and some bouldering.
My 8 year old and I navigated part way up sugarloaf Mountain to place the container in a well hidden spot and mostly covered with about three rocks . The highway is one of the most beautiful and perhaps the most dangerous in Southern California Highway 111. You can often see hang gliders a little further down the road ... also look for the Indian Jewelry for sale as you descend the hill. The landscape, as you descend past the geocache, resembles the pictures of some far off planet.
We located the coordinates with the Trimble Geo3 GPS unit and the coverage was pretty good. The contents is now moved to a metal container with a US flag.
Please sign the (new) guest book ... (I picked up the old log book to scan and post)
There is a mix of items in the container. If you are interested in learning GIS, email me a description on what is on the log book cover and I will forward you a code to access a 24 hour online self paced GIS class and directions to obtain software. Parking .. ok, be careful where you park as cars appear quickly around the curve. Park on right at first turnout before designated viewing spot (driving towards Palm Desert) just as you are about to descend. Please take care crossing road ... if not Vultures will be circling for sure.
