A great view on the edge of the Newtondale Gorge. The nearest practical parking places are at 54° 19.913' 0°41.337' or Lewisham (which has a decent pub). The road into Levisham is very steep, and tricky in snow and ice. For an interesting and different approach you could take the steam train from Pickering, and walk up from the station at Levisham.
Although most of the area is open access, ie you don't have to follow marked rights of way, you may find it easier to follow the paths in all but the driest of summers.
If you happen to be there when the trains are running on the NYMR you get a truely spectacular view of the steam trains working hard as they climb towards the summit.
To claim the cache email me how many steps are at the coords to prove you went there.
The cache is virtual as the snow cover when I was there prevented me finding a good hiding place. If anybody wishes to upgrade the location to a physical cache I'll happily archive this one.
