An geocaching event at Abergele & Pensarn railway station on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024 at 11:15am for half an hour.
There is no physical SideTracked - Abergele & Pensarn cache (nor any in the town either!) but there will be an event cache briefly here today.
All are invited to this meet while the host is visiting the town and surrounding area on this day. Together we can talk about all things geocaching.
Abergele & Pensarn railway station - opened in 1848 on the 1st May by the Chester and Holyhead Railway on one of the earliest mainline railways in the world - the key route from London Euston to Holyhead for the sea crossing to Dublin. The famous Irish Mail used to storm through on a daily service. The present station building was built in 1883 when the town expanded. In 1923 the station was owned by the LMSR - the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. Today, Transport for Wales is in ownership.
Despite the station looking like a shack there are regular long distance trains that depart from here for Holyhead and Bangor to the west and Chester, Crewe, Cardiff, Manchester and London to the east.
