Geocache Description:

06 May 2024, 10:00 - 12:30

Come join the Caledonian Cachefest Committee for a fun event and scavenger hunt.

Having been given exclusive access to Brattleburn, an area normally off limits to the public, we are holding the final event of the weekend here.

There will be a regular geocaching meet up to share stories, make your final trackable swaps of the weekend and, if you would like to join in, a scavenger hunt where you will have to find items or take photographs from our list for points. This will be a team game, with the winning team winning prizes.

Everyone playing will be put into one of 4 teams (at random), and you will have 1 hour to find as many items as you can on the list. At the end all the points will be added up and the members of the winning team will each get a small prize.
For safety, all players are advised to be in a group of 3 or more when heading out.

Important Information!!

This event is being held in a forest. Access is via forest tracks, this means:

  1. The tracks are not tarmac
  2. Max speed on the tracks is 20mph (average speed is about 10mph)
  3. There are few passing places
  4. The tracks are not suitable for caravans, motorhomes or low clearance sporty cars (normal clearance is fine)
  5. It takes around 20 minutes to drive from the B7076 to the event location.
  6. The tracks do not match those shown on maps or satalite images. Please follow the signage that will be in place before the event
  7. Parking at the event location is limited.
  8. You drive on the tracks entirely at your own risk. The organisers, Groundspeak and/or land owner(s) cannot be held responsible for any damage, however caused, to your vehicle.

With all the above said, the chair of the event committee has driven the tracks without any issues at all in a standard car.

Due to the limited parking, we ask all attendees to, where possible, car share to the event. Parking is available on the B7076 close to the junction/ turning to the event or you can park in Moffat all day for free.
