Geocache Description:

02 May 2024, 18:00 - 18:30

Another event in the 'Infoferret's Nostalgia' trip... my surname is Teesdale, hence the title.

I grew up in the North-East (Middlesborough & Durham), and came here several times as a child as a start point for various walks in the area.

This sign (now sadly removed) was designed by my Dad, before I was born.  We always used to stop by the layby and admire it (and the view).

I've lived in Wellington, New Zealand since August 2000, but the Dales are still in some basic, emotional, way 'Home'.  Many years ago, we had our honeymoon nearby (this was somewhere 2 skint students could get to by public transport, and could afford to stay).

So, while over visiting various elderly relatives, I persuaded my better half to stop off in Middleton-in-Teesdale before we head off down to Birmingham and his family.

I'll be sitting on the benches by the Bainbridge fountain, eating something from one of the local takeaways (There is a pizza place opposite and I think a chippy nearby).   I'd love to see anyone who fancies joining me.  I'll probably be wearing a jellow cycling jacket, as that's the most distinctive, lightweight thing I am bringing with me.

Sunset is 8.45 pm, so time for some evening caching nearby if you haven't cleared out the area.
