Let's go camping!!! For the second year, the Williston Area Geocaching Society is getting together and going camping, this time at Makoshika State Park. We would like to invite others from the greater geocaching community to come and join us! The event is a potluck dinner event on Saturday evening. We'll have a fire/grill present with burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings for it. Please consider bringing something to share for the potluck. It should be a great time for everyone, kids included! See below for more information. Check the waypoints for site location.
Where: Makoshika State Park, Glendive, Montana, Site #011
When: July 13, 2024 at 6pm MST
What: Bring a dish or something to cook over the fire and enjoy geo-chat and comradery with us! Stay as long as you're willing, with some chatting, camping activities, s'mores, and possibly a sunset hike! Definitely a kid-friendly, family-friendly event.
Glendive and Makoshika State Park have so much to offer for adults and kids alike. There are plenty of amazing hiking trails through this part of the badlands, a designated OHV space, the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum, the Frontier Gateway Museum, the historic Bell Street Bridge, more (and more) dinosaurs, and plenty of great Geocaching!!!
Camping is not required to attend this event. If you are staying for the weekend, Glendive has plenty hotel and Airbnb options as well! Makoshika even has tipis and yurts you can rent to stay in! Just note that there are entrance fees for Montana State Parks. If you are not a resident of Montana who pays the annual state park fee, day use to Makoshika State Park is $8, or $4 for walk-in or bicycle visitors. Camping at Makoshika can range betweeen $4-$34 per night. I'd recommend making your reservations at your earliest convenience at Montana State Parks Website (clickable).
See you there!
