Geocache Description:

20 April 2024, 16:00 - 17:00

River Falls, WI is hosting Earth Fest 2024.  This is a free community celebration of the past, present and future sustainability efforts in River Falls and the surrounding area.  Saturday, April 20 from 12 noon-4:00 pm, with a pre-event featuring local meteorologist Paul Douglas from 11am-12 pm.

This family-friendly event includes live music, fun family activities, food sampling, a sustainability fair, free giveaways, well water testing, recycling (medications, hearing aids, eyeglasses, batteries), Geocaching 101 table and more.  It will be held at the UW-River Falls University Center in River Falls, WI and throughout the campus's beautiful surrounding green spaces.  Limited parking is available nearby.  Free shuttle transportation to and from the event is available from several locations in River Falls (see website: hope4creationRF.org/earthfest for details).

As soon as we heard about Earth Fest we knew Geocaching fit perfectly!  We asked about having a Geocaching 101 table, and how we could do a CITO event, to give back to the community.  There will be 2 opportunities after the event:

 - trash pickup around campus

 - clean up of the nature-based play area (stumps, logs, and sticks) outside the University Center

CITO event will be from 4 pm-5 pm, at the conclusion of Earth Fest 2024. Garbage bags will be provided but please bring your own grabbers and gloves.

Raffle tickets will be handed out, prizes will be awarded, fun will be had by all!  If you have Sustainability items to be used as prizes, please let us know and bring them along.

Permission for CITO given by Mark Klapatch-Mathias, Earth Fest co-Chair and UWRF Sustainability Coordinator, with input from their Grounds Department.
