Callie Visits Leadhills

Enjoy a day in the Southern Uplands in Leadhills at this geocaching event. There will be geocaching chat, trackable exchanges and all the usual geocaching related fun. In the village there are traditional, multi, puzzle, Ad Lab and virtual caches. It is hoped to get a new EarthCache published too.
Everyone is welcome, especially those new to geocaching. Events are the best way to meet other geocachers and pick up really useful hints and tips.

Opening especially for this event, we will be based inside Leadhills Miners Library, Britain's oldest subscription library, where you can look around for free to discover some of the fascinating history of the area.
From the library, you will be free to explore the hills and the twin villages of Leadhills and Wanlockhead, Scotland's highest villages (complete the Ad Lab to find out which is highest), as well as the other attractions in the area including:

  • Scotland's highest pub, hotel, golf course and village shop
  • The highest adhesion railway in the UK*^
  • The British Gold Panning Championships at the mining museum, Wanlockhead*^
  • Teddy village and gift shop*

*We cannot guarantee these locations will be open. ^Entry fees apply at these attractions

The library is not wheelchair accessible. Entry is via a set of stone steps. The organisers will keep an eye out for anyone unable to get into the library and will happily bring the logbook outside.

A maximum of 2 dogs are permitted within the library at any time.
