Geocache Description:

04 June 2024, 09:00 - 09:30

The Slow Motion Campus Tour is a (perhaps never-ending) series of geocaching events at various noteworthy places on the University of Washington Campus. For June, we'll mix it up by heading to a lesser-known area of the UW: Foster Island, which is part of the Washington Park Arboretum, which is part of the UW.  We'll meet at the northern tip of the island, right next to the ship canal and Union Bay.

I'm not usually one to start events this early, but I will be recently returned from Europe, so I might as well take advantage of jet lag, and hopefully there will be sun to help reset my biological clock.

Assuming you don't take a boat, there are 2 reasonable routes to the event. Either start at the west from East Montlake Park, and take the trail over Marsh Island and various floating bridges and boardwalks. Note that this route can be quite wet and muddy if it's rained a lot recently. Also, cycling, jogging and dogs are not permitted on this route.

There are no such restrictions if you start from the south near the Arboretum Visitors Center. There's even a parking lot, although I make no guarantees you will find a spot.

From the Husky Stadium light rail station, it shouldn't be too hard to get there via the Marsh Island route.
