On 27 APR 2024 at 12pm (1200Hrs) until 1:30pm (1330Hrs) I will be hosting a lunch in support of a CITO being hosted by GeoQuacker0>
There is no requirement to attend the CITO, though, I highly encourage you to do so. CITO is perhaps the most visible way we as geocachers give back to the community. The listing for the CITO is fully listed below and linked below. Please put out the word. I encourage you all to invite friends who may not even know what geocaching is. All are welcome.
This event is being held following the CITO. I have reserved an area in a nearby establishment for some pizza, beverages and chatter.
There is no purchase requirement to attend.
From April 22 - April 26, the city is hosting their annual City Wide Cleanup. As with last year, we have been allowed to do a CITO event on the Saturday after the listed days.
As Geocachers, we have a heightened awareness of litter. Sadly, we find it nearly everywhere we tread. As Geocachers, we should practice the ideals of "Tread Lightly" and "Leave No Trace". I believe most of us do this nearly every time we cache. Groundspeak has provided us with a dedicated event type in the CITO, to both encourage, and reward us for such behaviors. Hopefully, other people that witness these ideals in action, take notice, and incorporate them into their own life.
It is with great pleasure that the area Geocachers have acquired a 1-mile section of the RAPID Bike Path to clean up in support of the Community Cleanup. While this particular section of trail is normally clear of most trash, it does offer some areas for people of any ability to access. Terrain from 1 to as high as 3.5ish can be had along the route. And, for those that wish to go beyond, creek wading can provide extra opportunities.
So, we look forward to any and all Geocachers that would like to participate as well as any friends and family you would like to involve.
