Geocache Description:

20 April 2024, 12:00 - 14:00

GCCO has been hard at work over the last few months to recharge and revamp, and is excited to jump into 2024 with some fun events! Kicking things off for this year, we welcome you to the...

 When: April 20th from 12:00pm-2:00pm
Where: Centennial Community Meeting Room, 7272 S. Eagle St. 80112

So, where does the FLING part come in? We are glad you asked!
(Warning: This is going to be a jam packed 2 hours so hold on tight!)

Prizes!

Purchase tickets to have a chance to win from a broad selection of prizes ranging from cache containers, coins, TBs, and lots off “ooh!” and “aaahhh” items! If you have items that you think would make a great addition to our raffle prize table, please bring them and you just might just get a few free raffle tickets to boot!

Bison Tree!

What is more enticing than a tree full of bison tubes, filled with mystery prizes ranging from tickets, racer tags, and even a year’s membership to Geocaching.com?! (No tree climbing required!) For just $5, take your pick of tubes and see what treasure awaits you!

The Launch of our 2024 TB Race!

That’s right, it is time to race again! Bring a TB of your choice with code to see who can go the farthest, most countries, etc. TBs need to have 0 miles logged and a TB code. Race tags explaining the race to those that move it along will be provided to add to your racer. We will also have a limited number of GCCO TB racers with unique codes available for purchase at the event.

Rules for the race are listed below...

1. You may enter any two types of trackables you wish per account. Travel bugs, coins, or TB codes on anything are eligible. Anyone with a Geocaching account is eligible to participate. You will activate and own your own trackable. Have fun creating the page.

2. Your trackable must have zero miles on April 20, 2024 and no back logging is allowed. You may enter the race at any time during that week so if you miss the April 20th start, you can still join!!!  Your TB must start in a Colorado geocacahe or at a  Colorado Event

3. You may not move your own or your immediate family member's trackables. You may move any other racer's trackables.

4. You may not mail or virtual move your trackable. Note: The Find Signal the Frog® - Locationless in 2020 or Let’s improve the outdoors - Locationless Cache would be virtual moves. If you racer gets dropped or dipped into a Locationless cache, you will need to delete those logs. The trackable must be moved in the possession of a Geocacher at all times. That means you cannot give it to your muggle relatives or friends to take it on vacation with them. They will have to make a Geocaching account!

5. Improperly dipped trackables will be requested to have their logs fixed by the owner. This can happen if people do not log their finds in order. We will notify you if we are made aware of this. Failure to fix the issue can result in disqualification.

6. No proxy re-entries are allowed. If any of your original entries go missing, then their race is finished. As a result, all entries must have a photo uploaded of the TB as it will appear before the start of the race. Photos of your TB with the trackable code must be submitted to GCCO to be eligible for the race.

7. There are no size or tagging requirements on your physical trackable. It would be helpful to mention that your trackable is in this race and include a link to this cache on your trackable page description. However, there are no trackable page requirements and we leave that up to you.

Come with your trackable activated and ready to go. You can register it for the race at this event if you won't be able to make it to the Spring Fling Event on April 20th. Do not forget this is supposed to be a fun and light hearted competition. Anyone not playing by the rules will simply be removed.

Fun Games!

Hmmm, I wonder what creative fun the GCCO has for us to mix and mingle and share some laughs……Psst…little hint…you may want to come prepared like any good geocacher would be.

Did Someone Say Pot Luck?!

Rifle through those most loved recipes and bring a dish of your choice to share! Something savory or sweet, hot or cold, healthy or not, it’s your choice. The only rule is that it has to be yummy! Oh, and bring a favorite non-alcoholic beverage for yourself.

Coins!

A selection of GCCO coins will be available for purchase for $15 each, in case you need to add to (or start up) that must have collection! (The 2024 Coin is in the works too, by the way!)

So, all YOU have to do is:

  • Get yourself to GZ on the appropriate day and time (not optional)

  • Bring some cool new donations to add to the prize table (optional)

  • Tote in a yummy food item to share and a non-alcoholic beverage for yourself (optional)

  • Have that wallet handy for all those coins and tickets you are going to want!
Money goes to help fund future events, raise awareness and excitement of geocaching within our great state of Colorado, and pay for the GCCO Board annual trip to Belize!
Just kidding, did we mention we are non-profit?
