This memorial commemorates the millions of Soviet citizens and service men & women who died for the Allied Victory in WWII.
I wanted to place a cache that started at this often-overlooked war memorial in South London. You should be standing before the memorial in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, which surrounds the Imperial War Museum. The semi-abstract figure holds a bell that will forever remain silent in memory of those who died. It is the only monument of its kind in the UK. The Memorial was unveiled on 9 May 1999 by UK Defence Secretary George Robertson MP and Russian Ambassador HE Yuri Fokin. The first wreath was laid by HRH The Duke of Kent, President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
