Geocache Description:

08 April 2024, 17:30 - 18:30

Needing to expand your skills in getting around in the great outdoors? Learn orienteering! Orienteering involves finding your way through varied terrain using a compass, a topographical map and land navigation skills. Some of our caches use orienteering skills to successfully or more easily find.

Master Naturalist Steve Ferguson is coming to the Southern Boone County Library to share an introduction to navigation skills and to Rock Bridge Memorial State Park's TRIM orienteering course. A limited number of orienteering compasses will be provided.

This event is free and open to the public. While it is being held indoors we will do our best to accommodate everyone! We are excited to meet more geocachers! This location does offer its own cache, btw, and if you arrive a bit early you can search for it.

Update 3/19: Please keep an eye on this event. If we don't get enough registrations on the library side of this event, it may be cancelled. Although I love seeing all the activity here and will encourage our hosting library and our volunteer to continue regardless of the registrations on our website.

The hosts for this event, Drumwoman and GeoJon2021, will be hanging around in the back to welcome everyone and learn some new faces. If you just want to drop by, post an “Attended” log to earn your smiley, and take off, that's great! Looking forward to it!
