GEOJAMBOREE XXI
Kettletown State Park
Event Saturday June 29th
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

COME JOIN US FOR CONNECTICUT'S LONGEST RUNNING ANNUAL GEOCACHING EVENT!!

THERE WILL BE NO POT LUCK (EVERYONE SHOULD BRING THEIR OWN FOOD).  THAT BEING SAID, THIS IS ABOUT GETTING US TOGETHER AND ENJOYING THIS GREAT PARK SO HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE THIS YEAR!!!!!

MAIN EVENT
Park entrance is at 1400 Georges Hill Road, Southbury. Event is at posted coordinates.

GEOCACHES
There are an abundance of caches in the area including two adventure labs in the park and we will try to get new ones in and around the park if possible. We will again be planning to do a DAY-OF-ONLY ADVENTURE LAB (5 stages) as well for those in attendance.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS - tentative / subject to change based on weather, etc.  WE ARE WORKING ON THE SCHEDULE AND PROVIDE AN UPDATE CLOSER TO THE EVENT. 

EVENT PATHTAG: We will be providing this to you FREE of charge at registration. We will handing out one pathtag per Geocaching account and have about 100 to give out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

GENERAL INFO

  • There will be NO potluck lunch this year, so please plan food appropriately.  There are a lot of restaurants in the area and grills for cooking. If you would like to bring packaged things (e.g., snack bags, granola bars, bottled water) to share with the group, that would be greatly appreciated!
  • Be sure to bring chairs or a blanket since seating may be limited. 
  • Bring your canoes or kayaks and take full advantage of what this state park has to offer. Plus there will be water caches nearby!!
  • Pets on a leash are permitted in picnic areas and on hiking trails.  Pets are NOT allowed on the beach or in the campground.
  • When logging your "Will Attend" please note which site you've booked (if you are camping). 
  • Spread the word and help us make this the best GeoJamboree yet!
  • There is a parking fee of $15 for out-of-staters. *****Campers do not pay a parking fee*****

RAFFLE

  • We will be doing a raffle again this year. Everyone who registers and signs the event log will receive one raffle ticket. THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP We are looking for donations of geocaching related items! Everyone who brings items to donate for the raffle or for prizes will receive an extra raffle ticket(s), so please contribute what you can! Please message Randy (Mr Echo) or Rason (KingRason) if you are planning to bring something.

CAMPING

  • You do NOT need to camp to attend the Main Event but it is highly recommended!!!
  • Sites can be reserved through Reserve America.
  • Campground rules are STRICTLY enforced at this state park.
  • If you do not like following rules please do NOT camp out for this event.
  • CAMPERS-We recommended booking within sites 1 - 30 so we can be in close proximity to each other. Kettletown offers tent and RV sites as well as cabin rentals
  • Basic Campground Info:
    • Dumping station, bathrooms, showers, fishing, swimming.  (*note:Swimming is no longer permitted at Kettletown State Park, due to the recurrence of blue/green algae blooms.)
    • Trailers and RV's may not exceed 28' in length.
    • No pets.
    • ALCOHOL PROHIBITED. This rule is STRICTLY ENFORCED!
  • You will be ejected from the campgrounds if you don't comply.
    • $17/night/campsite for CT residents, $27/night/campsite for non-CT residents + Processing Fee
    • $50/night/Rustic Cabins for CT residents, $60/night/rustic cabins for non-residents + Processing Fee
    • Only 1 vehicle is allowed on cabin sites - this includes trailers.

CAMPSITE SIGN CONTEST RULES - More details around judging & prizes to come

  • Signs should be no taller than 4' high and no wider than 3' in diameter. Sign posts should not be larger in circumference than a 2x4.
  • Signs should be freestanding and not tethered to trees, rocks, tents, etc.
  • Holes for sign placement should be as minimal damage to the ground as possible and should be filled in upon departure from the park.
  • Signs should contain the Team Name and City and State. Teams sharing a campsite may collaborate or compete separately.
  • Signs will be judged after the main event.
