On Monday April 8th, 2024 in the afternoon, the Sun, Moon and Earth will perfectly align to produce a total solar eclipse. Mercy101 and muggle Chuck have gracefully offered the use of their yard to watch this spectacular astronomical event. The skies will go dark for a few moments in southwestern Ontario.
Eclipse safety: Make sure you have specially-designed solar viewing glasses when looking at the eclipse. Royal Astronomical Society of Canada glasses (ISO 12312-2 international safety standard) will be available (first 40 attendees). Regular sunglasses will not protect you, nor unprotected cameras or binoculars. Keep an eye on children and grandchildren.
If it is cloudy or rainy, NASA will run a live stream therefore bring your cell phone for viewing.
Do join us at 50360 Dingle Line in Aylmer ON, 2:15 pm to 4:15 pm EDT. Meeting in the parkette to the east of the creek. Bring your lawn chairs.
Lots of street parking. PLEASE do NOT block the west lane (50358), the farmer out the back may need access
