The Montour Trail is a near and dear trail to my heart. I was recently out placing caches along the trail and found a section of trail that is in need of some serious love. The running joke for my monthly Montour Trail Cleanup series is that I usually find the cleanest sections of trails to hold our monthly cleanups on. However, this small section of trail needs our help. A lot of the garbage appears to be coming down from the road above, as cars and trucks go by. To help improve this section of trail, I would like to gather a bunch of cachers to come out and give a helping hand. The day for this CITO will be June 5th, and we will meet at 5:30 PM with the CITO wrapping up at 7:30 PM. Because this section of trail is in the middle, the parking area is very small and right off busy PA 980, we will be meeting at the listed parking coordinates. Those coordinates are for the Boggs Trail Head. We will then take as few cars down to the small lot and then walk our way down to the cleanup area. If you are planning on attending, please be at the parking area for 5:30 PM, so we can head down. I will be bringing bags and work gloves with me. We will then bring the garbage back to parking and we will dispose of it there at the cans. If you do bring kids with you, please keep an eye on them. The area were we will be cleaning is situated between the Montour Trail and the road, on a steep hillside.
