Meet between 11:30am-noon at the posted coordinates, under cover at Pope Marine Park. This is between stops #4 and #5 on the čičməhán Trail. At noon, those who wish may go for a ride on the trail around Port Townsend.
The 56th in a series of events along the many mostly flat, mostly paved biking/walking trails in the Seattle area. The čičməhán Trail (also known as the Chetzemoka Trail) is named after Chetzemoka, a leader of the native S'Klallam tribe at the time near Port Townsend's founding. The trail focuses on the continuing relations between the S'Klallam and the settlers. It is not a bike trail as such, more a route or series of routes between signs located at various key sites around the city. A good website with maps for biking, walking or driving the trail is http://www.tribalmuseum.jamestowntribe.org/hsg/exhibits/chetzemokatrail/ct_menu.php
I plan to bike most of the bicycle route, but might cut out a few sections. The route is not necessarily flat, by the way.
Per geocaching.com event guidelines, the actual 'event' is the meet-up from 11:30am-noon at the posted coordinates, which is a covered area at Pope Marine Park. If the weather is particularly windy, we might have to relocate to a more sheltered area nearby. There is parking at the park and on the streets nearby
This event is outdoors, but I will only cancel this event if the weather is terrible: heavy rain, lightning/thunder, snow or ice. Bring a waterproof layer if it might rain.
If you choose to ride, please show up well before noon so we can leave on time. Check your brakes and air beforehand.
Participants in the optional bicycle ride hold harmless the cache owner/event organizer and assume all risks and responsibilties involved in riding a bicycle on trails and streets. Wear a helmet, dress in layers, and bring a spare tube.
