Geocache Description:

08 April 2024, 15:30 - 17:00

Date: 8 April 2024 (Monday)

Time: 1530 - 1700 hrs

Place: Kensington, PE (Gazebo)

Purpose: Social Fun & Observe Total Solar Eclipse

Come join fellow Island cachers as we swap stories & trade trackables while watching a rare celestial event -- a total eclipse of the sun.

A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun -- all you can see are the streamers around the outside of the sun. Don't miss it. It's not going to happen in PEI — or even in Atlantic Canada — again for more than 55 years!

To ensure maximum viewing safety of the eclipse, be sure to read "How to View a Solar Eclipse" (click)! ahead of time & come prepared.

Totality of the eclipse will occur at 1638 hours.

In case of rain or overcast skies, the next total solar eclipse to be seen on the Island will be May 1, 2079 -- who's hosting!?
