Geocache Description:

04 May 2024, 09:00 - 09:30

Lets get together before we head out and tackle the Lowell Showboat Geo-Art and share a few stories. We will devise a plan to stage vehicles so we can bike or hike the rail trail.

Announcements about the caches and rail trail will be made during this event.

This is a public park that connects to the rail trail where the caches are hidden.

Info on the trail: The Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Rail Trail is 22 miles and connects Lowell to Greenville. Lowell to Belding is 15 miles, so plan on riding a few miles.  The trail surface is coarse railroad ballast with paved segments in Belding and Smyrna. In Greenville it connects to the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and in Lowell it connects to the Fred Meijer Grand River Valley Trail.

The Lowell Showboat Geo-Art consists of 79 caches shaped like the current Showboat sitting in the Flat River just off M-21. The caches are hidden along the rail trail between Belding and Lowell going through Smyrna following the Flat River. Years ago the Showboat used to head south along the river to it current location to set up for shows.
