goldpot: All Trackables logged out, thanks.
I had a memorable few day at Inverness. The train ride to Kyle of Lochalsh across the snow covered moors was magical.
Time to archive.

Geocache Description:

07 February 2024, 10:15 - 10:45

There is no permanent SideTracked cache at Inverness station, however there will be a cache event outside the station on Wednesday, 7th February 2024 at 10.15am for 30 minutes.

All are invited to the meet at greet outside Inverness railway station at Falcon Square by the Unicorn statue. The host will be spending at few days at the Highland capital. It will be a pleasure to meet some local cachers and visitors like myself. Feel free to exchange Trackables that are small enough for me to carry!

Inverness station opened in 1855 as a terminus for the line that ran to Nairn. The first passengers from the south arrived when the railway from Perth via Forres opened in 1865. It wasn't until 1897 that a direct line to Aviemore was built connecting the mainline to the capital via the new Forth Bridge.
The station building was modernised in 1968 with an "architectural style" common from that era. There were plans to recreate the original Victorian frontage of the station but that idea got shunted.
This cache is part of the SideTracked series.
