Geocache Description:

02 August 2024, 10:00 - 13:00

Railway Robbery

What is it?

Whodunnit - can you solve the mystery? Join us for a day out at the Bluebell Line, a preserved railway close to the campsite, where you have the opportunity to play an Adventure Lab that will be published exclusively for this event. The most fun way to play the Adventure Lab is to go by train, but you can use alternative ways to visit the stations.

When is it?

The Event will be on Friday 2nd August 2024 from 10:00 to 13:00

We have arranged a discounted ticket rate for Geocachers wishing to travel on the railway. The tickets allow you to hop on and off the trains all day, and make the most what the unique stations have to offer at a leisurely pace. To obtain the discounted rate you need to book them through our shop. We also arranged a tour of the coachworks at Horsted Keynes - tickets also available in the shop.

Where is it?

The event will take place outside Sheffield Park Station.

Information

The Bluebell Railway is an 11 mi (17.7 km) heritage line almost entirely in West Sussex in England, except for Sheffield Park which is in East Sussex. It is managed by the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society and uses steam trains which operate between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead, with intermediate stations at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.

Today the railway is managed and run largely by volunteers. Having preserved a number of steam locomotives even before steam stopped running on British mainline railways in 1968, today it has over 30 steam locomotives, the 2nd largest collection in the UK after the National Railway Museum. The Bluebell also has almost 150 carriages and wagons, most of them pre-1939.
