Geocache Description:

BYOP.  Located in Kelsey Round Lake Park.

Laura Ingalls Wilder (February 7, 1867 – February 10, 1957) was an American writer who wrote about her childhood in a settler and pioneer family, including some of their time spent on the prairies of Minnesota.  Here’s an adaptation of some of her writing:

"Ma!" she cried. "There is a Santa Cause, isn't there?"

"Of course there's a Santa Cause," said Ma.

"The older you are, the more you know about Santa Cause," she said.  "You are so big now, you know he doesn't make caches like everyone else, don't you?  You know he goes everywhere geocaching.  He is in the North Woods, and in Dakota Territory, and far away, and here in Kelsey Round Lake Park.  He places geocaches in all the parks at the same time.  You know that, don't you?"

"Yes, Ma," said Mary and Laura.  “But what if there aren’t any beacons in that part of the park?”

"Well," said Ma. "Then you see--"

"I guess he camouflages," Mary said, slowly.  And Laura could see that, just as well as Mary could.

This park includes some prairie restoration that would make Laura proud.  While geocaching wasn't available in the 1800's, the spunky young Laura Ingalls would undoubtedly have enjoyed the diversion from the daily toil of farming on the prairie.  This geocache would have reminded her of a task common to all prairie farmers.

Congratulations to guardrail10 for the FTF by flashlight!
