ST SWITHIN, KIRKLINGTON
St Swithin, Kirklington is a Grade II* listed building, achieving the status on 11 August 1961.
The building has parts dating from C13th, C14th, C15th, C17th and C19th with a restoration between 1873-1874. The interior was restored in 1892.
The make up of the building is of the tower, nave, south porch, south vestry and chancel. The C17th tower is mainly constructed of brick, which is highly unusual in this area.
Inside the church is the original octagonal ashlar C12th font. Each panel is decorated with a 3 bay blind intersecting arcade supported on dwarf shafts and with a band of diaper under.
All the other interior furniture dates from the 1892 restoration.
The east window is accredited to Ward Hughes of London in 1896.
