Overseal - Baptist
Overseal Baptist Church is a small church on the main road in Overseal. Some records suggest the original church was built in 1840 on a site further North (opposite Coronation Street) and possibly replaced on the current site in 1854 where it can be seen on older OS maps. Another church was erected in 1897 - a photo of this building is below, apologies for the poor quality but it's a phone photo of an already faded photo on a noticeboard inside the church. There was also a schoolroom at the back.
By 1968 this impressive-looking building was affected by subsidence and had to be demolished, being replaced by the modern building, which has a rather poignant dedication attached to the illuminated cross.
As this is very close to the Anglican church (see CM9933) and due to other caches in the area this is a simple multi with the final located a short walk away, you may be able to take in some other local caches on the way.
To find it look at the fire hydrant marker outside the church with the numbers ABC and D above and below the "H", and the number EF-GHJK at the bottom. The cache can be found at N52 4(A+H).BJ(A+D) W001 3H.(F-H)(A+D+E)D. The checksum of the 8 digits you need to calculate in the coordinates is 25.
