Geocache Description:

This cache was placed by Mark "The Cat" Thompson, founder of geocacheuk.com who passed away on 12th September 2004. The cache will be maintained and is dedicated to his memory.

Many thanks to stu_and_sarah who adopted the cache a couple of years ago, and have looked after it since then.

King Dick's Downfall. .

On the 22nd of August 1485, what would have remained an insignificant battle in the Wars of the Roses (had it not been for Henry Tudor & King Richard III being combatants), took place on Bosworth Field in Leicestershire. Approximately 20,000 troops took part with about 900 being killed, one of them being Richard III. This ended the short-lived Yorkist Royal Dynasty (1461-1485).

This cache is located near King Dick's Well a place from where the King drank. It is also not too far from where the ill-fated King fell.

This site is a Scheduled National Monument.

I would like to thank Dave the Head Ranger and his staff for allowing the placing of this cache on such an important site.

Please respect this site. You do not need to dig for this cache. If you cant find the cache using the hint feel free to ask Dave or a member of his staff as thay know where it is located.

The site is open all year round and car parking on site is £1.50. There is parking to be had off site if you so desire. There is an entrance charge to the Visitor Center but again that is optional, and is not required in order to reach the cache.
