For an island visitor, or a newcomer to Barbados, this entity is a great source of information and ideas for further discovery.
Virtual cache challenge question 1: When looking at the main gate entrance, email me the number and colour of the cannons you can see in front of the building.
Virtual cache challenge question 2: When facing the main entrance, looking at the right, email me the day(s) that the museum is closed.
Virtual cache challenge questions 3: Indicate what mode of transport you used to arrive in Barbados and on what date was your arrival.
The Barbados Museum is divided into a number of galleries, a research library, and is housed in a former military prison. It is considered by some to be a "must see". What visitors may find most fascinating are the antique maps in the Aall Gallery and the artefacts depicting the social history of Barbados from the pre-Columbian period.
The Children's gallery is also very popular and informative.
The museum is located across from the Garrison Savannah track.
It is a short taxi ride from the cruise ship dock, and well located for those who are already on the South coast of the island. (Please note there is an admission charge; most of this information was transcribed from the Barbados in a Nutshell booklet available to visitors)
