Geocache Description:

Like Marin Headlands One this is a terrific view... but even better.
However this geocache may be off limits between August 15th and December 15th of each year due to dependency on the area by birds of prey.

You will drive most of the way but will get to take a short hike up a mildly steep path. There is a good place to park (and enjoy some great views from the car) at N37° 49.63, W122° 29.95. Look for the path to the south side of the hill top. DO NOT hike directly from the parking place to the cache coordinates. Please take the pathway. Once on top, you must find a 8" steel pipe extending 6" out of the ground. The end has been sealed with concrete. In it, one word and a date are inscribed.

In order to verify your visit please email me the following information:

What is the single word and year in the concrete?

Un-verified 'Found It' Logs or logs with the verify information in them will be deleted.

I've always wanted to visit these hills on the north side of the Golden Gate. I've lived in the Bay Area a couple of times and have visited a number more, but had never found the time, or way to get here. When we did on this trip from our home in Utah, we were so taken with the views from this spot that I felt very compelled to share it with other geocachers.

We camped for two nights to the west and below this spot. One morning we came up here to watch the sunrise over the top of a layer of clouds that covered the lower portions of the bridge and the city beyond. It was a glorious site.

The next morning we watched the sun come up under a higher layer of clouds and behind the bridge and the towers of downtown San Francisco.

We also enjoyed a sunset from here on one of our evenings. The red for the sun painted the city and bridge so beautifully amongst patches of incoming fog.
