St. Thomas Parish was a small gothic church built over a century
ago. When an unknown arsonist burned it to the ground, the
parishioners decided to turn the ruins and grounds into a park
dedicated to peace and reflection (they still use a very small
portion that remained standing for worship). Much of the east wall
still stands but the rest of that part of the church is gone.
Still, it does remain an interesting and pretty place, even if the
closeness of the busy street takes away from some of the
peacefulness at times. (By the way, I was excited to find out that
this cache is featured in a book about caching here.)
To claim credit for this, you'll have to walk the labyrinth to the
center (please note, this isn't possible if there's too much snow
or ice on the ground to see it, as it is carved into the cement).
Right as you enter the labyrinth, you'll notice the only place
where the lines of the labyrinth cross. As you round the labyrinth,
keep track of how many times you go past that point on the way to
the center. (In other words, if there was a line drawn on the
ground from that point to the southwest edge of the labyrinth, how
many times would you cross that line on your journey to the
center.) Tell me that number to claim credit.
