About Southern Pacific Garibaldi Depot
Welcome to Garibaldi, Oregon. There isn't much of a passenger depot here, but Garibaldi was an important stop on the Southern Pacific Tillamook Branch, with the old mill just a couple of hundred feet from here. Freight service ended in 2007 after the right-of-way in Salmonberry River Canyon was washed away, severing the Tillamook Branch from Hillsboro. however, Garibaldi remains a rail hub for the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. The OSCR runs scenic train rides from here to Rockaway beach and occasionally to Wheeler and beyond. The OSCR has a plan to build a replica Southern Pacific Depot to expand its capacity to handle the popular train rides. There are many railroad cars and locomotives parked along the line right here. Finding the cache during the busy season might prove tough with all the muggles, but should be reachable from a wheelchair.
