About SideTracked Events

This event belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website.

SideTracked - Keighley

This event is being held just around the corner to Keighley Train Station during the times quoted above, which I wanted to hold whilst I visit family, with the hope being to meet some local cachers, so looking forward to meeting you there! On a personal note, I have many fond memories from my youth having travelled from this station to visit and stay with my mum’s late parents over in Wakefield. It’s amazing how in some respects the town has changed, yet in other respects it hasn’t done.

Keighley Train Station

Keighley Train Station was initially opened in March 1847 at a site further along the railway by the Leeds and Bradford Extension Railway, with the volume of traffic resulting in initially a road bridge north of the current site being built in 1876, and the present building being built in 1883-85. Between 1892 & 1909, there operated a second station at Thwaites, though this has long since been discontinued. Presently, the station operates 4 platforms, with platforms 1 & 2 operating Network Rail services, whilst platforms 3 & 4 are operated by Keighley and Worth Valley railway. In 1986, the current building was awarded Grade II listing by Historic England as a building of special architectural or historic interest.
