"I am thankful for the church bells,

A reminder of God's calling

to bring us closer to Him." Laura D. Field

A Very Short History of this Kyrkklocka's Journey:

From 1917 to 1960, this kyrkklocka was housed in the steeple of the first Augustana Lutheran Church building which stood on this spot. In 1917, it was known as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Church. The kyrkklocka was rung eight times before a service. A new church building was completed in 1960. The old one was dismantled by the highest bidder and the kyrkklocka ended up in a cow pasture. In the 1980's, after 20 years, a church council member rescued the kyrkklocka from the pasture, cleaned it up, built a stand for it and placed it here. The ringing kyrkklocka reminded the council member of being with his grandpa when he was younger just before a country church service. A good educated guess is that the kyrkklocka was forged by C.S. Bell Co. of Hillsboro, Ohio.
