Headington's original Baptist chapel, built in 1836, was located in the Croft, Old Headington. The building is now a private residence but although too small for a place of worship, was in use by the Baptist church as a Sunday school until 1924.
A new chapel had been built in 1901 at its current location in Old High St. but over the years it was extended and renovated several times until the 1990s when the building was deemed structurally unsound, with problems of damp and with unsuitability to be made accessible for people with disabilities. In 1998 it was agreed that the church should be rebuilt.
The first service was held in the award winning new building in November 2006
