About Hoppers Crossing Station
Hoppers Crossing railway station is located on the Werribee line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Hoppers Crossing, and it opened on 16th November 1970.
The original station was situated about 100m further towards Werribee on the western side of the Old Geelong Road Crossing. Problems with stationary trains crossing blocking the level crossing led to the station being moved in 1983. This was in conjuction with the electrification of the line.
As part of the Victorian Government level crossing removal project the crossing was removed with construction starting in February 2021. The project was completed in December 2021 with a new pedestrian overpass.opening in February 2022.
The western standard gauge line that operates between Melbourne and Adelaide passes to the north of Platform 1.
The station has one island platform operating as platform 1 to Flinders Street and Platform 2 to Werribee.
