Over Knutsford War Memorial
This 3m tall Grade II-listed War Memorial stands in a small raised garden overlooking the main road, a short distance to the south-east of the Church of St Cross.
Made of sandstone, it features a fleur-de-lis cross with a moulded foot rising from an octagonal shaft. It stands on a square, tapering, plinth set on a three-stepped square base. The raised garden is enclosed by a stone wall. Access from the pavement is provided by a set of steps in front of the memorial.
The front inscription reads: "IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN CONNECTED WITH THIS PARISH WHO DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE".
The inscriptions on the two side panels of the memorial bear the names of the local men who fell in the First World War.
