[LV] Senais kuršu pilskalns atrodas pašā Alsungas centrā. Nosaukumu tas ieguva 1659. gadā, kad Kurzemes ģenerālis Bergs šeit izvietoja lielgabalus, lai apšaudītu Alsungas pilī nocietinājušos zviedru spēkus. Pilskalna augstums ir 8 – 10 metri (plakums 22 x 54 m) un no tā paveras lielisks skats gan uz Alsungas Sv. Miķeļa Romas katoļu baznīcu, gan uz blakus esošo Alsungas dzirnavu ezeru. Apkārt pilskalnam stiepjas izteikta terase, uz kuras bijušas koka aizsargbūves.. Dižgabalkalnā suiti svin Lieldienas un Zāļu dienu.
[EN] The ancient Kuršu mound is located in the very center of Alsunga. It got its name in 1659, when Kurzeme's general Berg placed cannons here to fire at the Swedish forces entrenched in Alsunga’s Castle. The height of the hill is 8-10 meters (22 x 54 m) and it offers a great view of Alsunga St. Miķeļa Roman Catholic Church, and to the nearby Alsunga’s mill lake. A distinct terrace extends around the mound, on which there were wooden protective buildings. In Dižgabalkalns suiti celebrate Easter and Solstice.
