Šis slēpnis ir daļa no 16 slēpņu sērijas, kas ļauj atklāt Latvijas dabas vērtības un iepazīt nozīmīgas dabas daudzveidības saglabāšanas iniciatīvas, kas īstenotas Latvijā laikā no 2002. līdz 2022. gadam. Slēpnī atrodama vērtība, kas nepieciešama bonusa slēpņa atrašanai.
Laikā no 2002. gada rudens līdz 2006. gada beigām Ķemeru nacionālā parka administrācija īstenoja ES Life programmas finansētu projektu "Mitrāju aizsardzība Ķemeru nacionālajā parkā". Projekta teritorijā atrodas lielas Bernes konvencijā un ES Putnu un Biotopu direktīvās minētu sugu - pelēkā dzērve, mazais ērglis, ormanītis, dzeltenā dzegužkurpīte, lūsis, vilks, u.c. populācijas
Veiktie darbi ietver hidroloģiskā režīma atjaunošanu augstajā purvā, privāto zemju iegādi 163,2 ha platībā, dabisko palieņu pļavu atjaunošanu 105 ha platībā gar Slampes upi, krūmāju un niedrāju apsaimniekošanu 312 ha platībā, nodrošinot aizsargājamu putnu sugu dzīvei piemērotus pļavu biotopus, kā arī aktīvus apsaimniekošanas pasākumus putniem nozīmīgajā Ramsāres vietā – Kaņierī.
Slēpnis atrodas pie Kaņiera ezera. Ir vērts aizbraukt apskatīties arī Starpiņupes slūžas, kuras tika uzbūvētas 1972.gadā, bet Life projekta ietvaros, 2006. gadā tām ir atjaunotas betona konstrukcijas, nomainīti slūžu aizvari un automatizēta to darbība, ļaujot uzturēt stabilu ūdens līmeni Kaņierī, kā arī nodrošinot pastāvīgu mehānismu darbību zivju migrācijas sezonas laikā. This geocache is part of a series of 16 geocaches that invites You to discover Latvia's natural values and learn about significant biodiversity conservation initiatives implemented in Latvia between 2002 and 2022. Cache contains value, that is needed for a bonus cache.
Between the autumn of 2002 and the end of 2006, the Ķemeri National Park Administration implemented the EU Life Programme funded project "Wetland Protection in the Ķemeri National Park". The project area contains large number of species listed in the Bern Convention and the EU Birds and Habitats Directives – Grus grus, Clanga pomarina, Porzana porzana, Cypripedium calceolus, Lynx lynx, Canis lupus, and other populations
The performed works include restoration of the hydrological regime in the high bog, acquisition of private lands in the area of 163.2 ha, restoration of natural floodplain meadows in the area of 105 ha along the Slampe river, management of shrubs and reeds in the area of 312 ha, providing meadow habitats suitable for protected bird species at the important Ramsar site – Lake Kaņieris.
The cache is located by Lake Kaņieris. It is also worth visiting the Starpiņupe locks, which were built in 1972, but within the framework of the Life project, their concrete structures were renewed in 2006, the lock shutters were replaced and their operation was automated, allowing to maintain a stable water level in Lake Kaņieris, as well as ensuring permanent operation during the fish migration season.
