Letham War Memorial
Letham War Memorial is a relatively new war memorial, having been created in 2013. It commemorates those who died in two World Wars and also in Letham Coal Mine. Unusually, he does not bear the names of the deceased. I can only assume this is the first and original war memorial for the village, and the nearby Airth War Memorial doesn't make any reference to any of the names being of Letham, although the Airth Parish included the villages of Dunmore, Letham and South Alloa. In any event a separate memorial for Letham has been created, which incorporates the deaths at Letham Coal Mine.
The coal mine sat near the north end of the current Letham Playing Fields, toward the Letham Cottages Road. It was established in 1909 and operated by the Carron Iron Company and employed 170 men. The two sets of 'model' housing nearby (Letham Cottages and Letham Terrace) were for the mine workers.

When you get to the published coordinates you will see a community information board next to the memorial, explaining the history of Letham Village.
