Geocache Description:

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath-taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. This cache’s publication date coincides with SideTracked Week, running from 7-13 August and commemorating 15 years of the series in 2022. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website.

Estimated time to complete: 15min
Estimated distance to travel: 200m

The Box Hill Miniature Railway and clubrooms are located in beautiful Elgar Park on the corner of Elgar and Belmore Roads in Mont Albert North, Victoria. Surrounded by picturesque gardens and parkland, the railway feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of busy Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs.

The society was formed in October 1981 and work on the site commenced in March 1983.  By September 1983 the Mayor of Box Hill was able to open the clubrooms and engine shed.  By October 1985 sufficient track had been laid and site works completed to enable the railway to be opened for public running.

The model railway station is based on the original Box Hill railway station built in 1885.

The railway is open to the public every third Sunday of the month (second Sunday in December) for rides from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

Listed Coordinates
You will find yourself at a train-themed playground adjacent to the miniature railway. To obtain the final coordinates you will need to do a little counting.

A = total number of railroad crossing signs
B = total number of steering wheels in the train cabins
CD = total number of sleepers and rails on the length of painted train track

The cache can be found at S37 47.9AB E145 6.9CD

Checksum = A+B+C+D = 6

No Geotrails!
The cache is a short walk from the playground. To make this a quick and easy find, and prevent any geotrails forming, the cache is ONE SINGLE STEP off the path. You are looking for a camouflaged sistema hidden under a grass plant.
