Sugere-se visitar o Museu do Amanhã, projeto do engenheiro e arquiteto espanhol, mundialmente conhecido, Santiago Calatrava. Este edifício é sem dúvida um dos locais mais visitados pelos turistas no Rio de Janeiro. O MAR é um museu criado juntando duas construções, uma moderna e uma mais antiga, unidas por intervenções arquitetônicas recentes que criaram um espaço único.
Embora não sejam atrações novas, ao redor da Praça Mauá, existem inúmeras outras atrações como o Teminal Marítimo de Transatlânticos em estilo Art Deco, o Edifício do antigo Jornal A Noite. Este edifício que já foi o mais alto da cidade e um dos mais altos do Brasil, sediou a Radio Nacional. O Igreja do Mosteiro de São Bento é também uma obra prima da arquitetura barroca, sendo também uma das mais importantes atrações culturais do Rio de Janeiro.

Although they are not new attractions, around the Praça Mauá, there are numerous other attractions such as the Art Deco-style Transatlantic Sea Terminal, the building of the former Jornal A Noite. This building, which was once the tallest in the city and one of the tallest in Brazil, hosted Radio Nacional. The Igreja do Mosteiro de São Bento is also a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, being also one of the most important cultural attractions in Rio de Janeiro.
