About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

Beaconsfield Station

Beaconsfield railway station is located on the Pakenham, it opened on 1 December 1879.

In 1967, the goods siding was closed to traffic, and was removed later in the same year.

Flashing light signals were provided at the nearby Station/Goff Street level, located nearby in the Pakenham bound direction of the station, in 1976, with boom barriers provided later on in 1986.  There is also a road underpass to the Melbourne side of the station, with a very low clearance.

There is a car-park nearby for travellers, and a further expansion of an additional car-park of 150 spaces was completed in mid December 2020 on state-owned land. Improved lighting and CCTV has been provided, with a secure bicycle parking shed, as well as bicycle stands. More than 250,000 commuters use the station each year.

The former railway house at 20 Beaconsfield Avenue was built in 1888, and in 1900, was acquired for use as a Station Master's house. It is now a private residence.

On 29 July 2021, the Level Crossing Removal project announced that the Station Street/Goff Street level crossing will be grade sperated  by 2025, with a new road bridge to be built over the railway line.
