Geocache Description:

[LV]

The nature trail was established within the framework of the Estonian-Latvian cross-border co-operation program European Territorial Co-operation Objective for 2007-2013, the project “Improvement of the attractiveness of Valga-Valka cities”.

On the Valga side, the total length of the trail in both directions is about 5 km. On the Valka side, the length of one coastal trail is 350 m. There are walking paths, benches for relaxation and a gazebo.

The legend says:
In the past, Estonians and Latvians had great wars. Once the Latvian army reached the border and settled on the mountain to rest. Boiled in a large pot with a porridge to force the war. In the meantime, the group of Estonians have gathered together, put a large tree on the ground, made a huge sling and set it on the side of the Latvian camp with a stone. The heavy stone hit straight into the pot itself, so that all the porridge was spilled. The war has also broken down. Since then, the top of the mountain is often steep, where you have to stir sometimes like a mess. The hill is also called Putraskalns.
The legend was written in August 1948 by narrator V. Auniņš from Valzen.
